Looks like puppy’s having a good year. Triple threat singer/actor/MC Lee Seung-gi (My Girlfriend Is a Gumiho, Brilliant Legacy) is playing with the big boys now—he’s been nominated for SBS’ MC Daesang, up against veteran heavyweights Kang Ho-dong, Yoo Jae-suk, and Lee Gyung-gyu. There’s not so much a chance in hell that he’ll win, but that’s not the point, as being nominated with these guys is pretty much the highlight for such a relative newbie like him.
I say relative, of course, because compared to these comedians (all three come from the gagman-to-MC camp), 23-year old Lee Seung-gi is just a kid. Lee Gyung-gyu debuted before Seung-gi was even born; Kang Ho-dong debuted in 1988, Yoo Jae-suk shortly after in 1991. But despite his greenness, there’s something about Seung-gi that almost everyone universally acknowledges: what Koreans would call MC-chaejil, meaning he was born to do this.
He has this disarming way of making everybody love him, which isn’t so hard to believe since he’s everything from the Nation’s Little Brother to Korean moms’ number one pick for a son-in-law. He and Kang Ho-dong have fantastic chemistry as an odd couple, on bothStrong Heart and KBS’ 1 Night 2 Days, and frankly, theirs is my favorite tv bromance, because it’s real, and completely adorkable.
I think what makes him good is that he’s natural in front of the camera and doesn’t shy away from being himself, which is dorky and funny and naive. But his success as an MC has everything to do with Kang Ho-dong, who isn’t afraid to look bad while making Seung-gi look good. Together they have this great comic timing that makes them click.
I have no doubt that the real battle for the award will be between Kang Ho-dong and Yoo Jae-suk, as they are both at the top of their game and always neck-and-neck for the year-end MC awards. But it’s nice to see Seung-gi coming up in the world.
Lee Seung-gi and Kang Ho-dong (bottom right) are both nominated for Strong Heart (and Kang Ho-dong also for Star King); Yoo Jae-suk (top right) for Running Man; and Lee Gyung-gyu (top left) for Star Junior. The SBS Awards will air December 30.
On the 18th, CNBLUE held their official second concert, ‘Feel The Blue‘ in Seoul.
Being their second concert since the summer, the group showcased both their Korean and Japanese songs, proving to their fans that they have made a great improvement since their debut. As the holiday season is also near, the members performed several Christmas songs, warming up the sold-out crowd in the chilly weather.
In return for such a wonderful concert, fans of member Jung Yonghwa provided a dinner truck for all of the concert staff and the members, ending everything off on a happy note.
CNBLUE will also be holding a Christmas concert in Busan on the 24th.
Yesterday was the last day of our examination in school, so we decided to have a Christmas Party in our class president’s house few kilometers away in our school.
Our examination started and ended early, so we bought some food in a supermarket near on our classmate’s house. It took almost two hours before we finish buying the foods that we’re going to eat.
Finally, we arrived on our classmate’s house at 3pm (but before that, we walk almost half kilometer to reach their house. it was tiring right?)
During our stay, some of my classmates decided to sleep in our classmate’s room to take some rest (’cause our examination started early as I said a while ago), some were watching TV, cooking and texting. What I did was to take a stolen photo of them and I enjoyed it a lot. Ha ha
While the food was still preparing, they decided to sing (’cause my classmate had a karaoke in their house) and I took some photos and videos of them while they were singing.
Our food was already prepared almost dinner time. The fact is, they were the one to cooked it and it was so delicious.
After that, we took pictures together before some of them will go to a resort (to have an over night stay there)
Our party ended almost 8pm in the evening.
All I can say is, I was not so happy with the party that we made comparing to the last one. Everything changes right? But, I didn’t expect this change a lot.

We know that some of our readers hail from the Philippines, so here’s an awesome announcement for the Pinoy K-pop fans!
The Phillippine KPOP Community Inc. has organized the second “Phillippine KPOP Convention” for December 11th at the PICC Forum. Local fan clubs of over 40 KPOP groups and artists have been invited to celebrate their love of K-pop music for one spectacular day only! Thousands of screaming fans attended the first event last year, so we’re sure that this year will draw in many more.
Enthusiasts can look forward to purchasing fan goods from the fan clubs of their favorite artists, view the K-street fashion show (courtesy of YesStyle.com), and participate in the many contests held over the course of the day (such as the ‘2nd Philippine KPOP Dance Battle’, ‘KPOP Kosplay Year II’, and the ‘KPOP Idol Look-a-like’ contests). There will also be exclusive album launches from SNSD and JYJ, so be sure not to miss out!
While there are no actual tickets being sold for the event, the organizers have established an entry fee of PHP150, as all proceeds from the event will go towards GAWAD KALINGA, a charitable organization that seeks to end poverty by building homes and communities for the less-fortunate. PHP150 is the minimum fee, so attendants are encouraged to donate more if they should so choose.
Doors open at 10AM. Be sure to check out this awesome event!

A controversy has recently been surrounding the ‘2010 Yahoo Asia Buzz Awards’, as many fans are doubting the legitimacy of its online voting system.
Between November 8th and the 30th, Yahoo has been conducting an online poll for three categories:‘Korean Male Buzz Star’, ‘Korean Female Buzz Star’ and ‘Asia’s Buzz Star‘.
The problem that had caught the attention of sharp fans is that the poll results for some nominees had either taken a sharp rise or drop in a spontaneous fashion. For instance, in the ‘Male Buzz Star’ category, Jang Geun Suk’s poll results saw sharp rises and falls at a continuous rate, while a considerable number of votes for Kim Hyun Joong dropped unexepectedly.
Consequently, many netizens are suspecting the poll results to have a substantial error in voting calculations.
Fans have become even more angered by Yahoo’s lack of investigation on this matter, who merely called it a simple ’server error’. Netizens commented, “The globally acknowledged Yahoo doesn’t want to be humiliated in public, which is why they are ignoring the hard work of the fans”, “I want to rebuke Yahoo for their lack of action regarding this issue.”
Responding to such criticism, a representative of Yahoo Korea explained on December 2nd, “There was a problem with the server overloading, however, we have not been able to confirm a manipulation of the poll results. We are still inspecting the reasons behind these errors.”
They carefully continued, “We cannot reveal a correct set of poll results without fully completing our investigation. We cannot confirm anything for now.”
Meanwhile, according to the online poll results on the site, Jang Geun Suk ranked 1st place for the ‘Male Buzz Star’ category for this year’s ‘Buzz Awards’.
